Guy meets girl who turns out to be an angel who spends enough time with him to give him hope for the future but breaking his heart in the present.
(Play on words, her name's Hope, she leaves, he's Hope-less. Get it?)
Met her in a coffee shop, ordering iced tea, said "What's a girl like that doing in a place like this, and why's she talking to me?" Settled in for a foreign film, felt like it took all day. Couldn't read the subtitles or understand a word they'd say. She told me that her name was Hope and she came here a lot. I said "you're what I'm looking for" and she said "That's what I've got"
But now I'm Hopeless yeah I'm Hopeless and alone.
We talked about a million things underneath the stars. I said "I hope I get to heaven one day" and she said" I think we already are" We lived a lifetime in a couple of weeks, felt like acouple of years. Built a mountain of laughter and cried a river of tears. One night she drifted away up into the night, disappeared into a mist right before my eyes. Now I'm Hopeless, I'm Hopeless and alone, I'm Hopeless since she's gone.
Could there ever be a girl like that somewhere on Earth, for awhile I had a glimmer of Hope, for what that's worth
